What does it mean to find low competition keywords?

Note the above emphasis on “for your website”.

It’s reality. Your website won’t beat the big dogs in the SERPs if you’re new to SEO. By the way, SERPs are SEO jargon for search engine results pages.

You start by finding keywords with little competition. Once you are a winner in this area, you can slowly move on to more competitive keywords. These are usually high-volume search keywords.

SEO experts often advise finding high-volume, low-competition keywords. But … I recommend not focusing on high search volume keywords at all. At least not at first. Temptation can lead you to make poor decisions when choosing keywords.

Before you start your keyword research, you need to select a niche, in case you haven’t decided yet. Next, you need to analyze a low-authority blog or article and then check for search engine volume and intent. By following these steps, you will easily find the best keyword with little competition.

1. Begin brainstorming the topics.

So you have to think in terms of your audience what they are searching on Google. Think about it and write down all your ideas. You have to write important ideas and topics. Don’t search for exact phrases or lines, as this will only waste your time. When a key point occurs to you, don’t ignore it and write it down. Write at least 8-10 ideas. So if you sell laptops online, the key points that can help you will be:

  • Laptop
  • Team
  • RAM
  • Macbook
  • Dell
  • Lenovo

2. Use a keyword research tool to develop your ideas.

Now is the time to use the key points you wrote down in the previous step. Put in those key points, or you can say phrases in a keyword search tool. And then get the report. You can use any keyword search tool to complete this step. After receiving the report, you will be presented with many keyword ideas, which will also include the key phrases and points you entered.

3. Filter the keywords that have little difficulty.

Some keyword research tools have high difficulty scores. The difficulty of low competition keywords is known as KD (Keyword Density). KD is a digital representation of how difficult it is to rank your blog or article in the first search of Google search results. After that, filter the keywords with a score between 0 and 10 to get a low competition keyword. If you follow these steps, you will easily get more than 160,000 keywords with only 5-6 points or key phrases. To refine the lists, set the monthly volume filter option to the minimum.

Google uses hundreds and thousands of ranking signals. Therefore, no SEO tool can detect them all. The third-party SEO tool will not detect the correct keyword difficulty metric. Google has never confirmed these SEO ranking factors. Keyword difficulty scores vary from tool to tool. Because each SEO tool uses a unique formula, not all SEO tools can give the same results.

  • Informational keyword – You can use this if your audience is looking for information on a specific topic. For example, how, where, what, etc.

In Ahrefs, first type in your initial keyword, enter it. Then you need to select the phrase that matches the proportion of your keyword ideas. After this step, you need to filter all low difficulty keywords using Keyword Difficulty (KD) filter between 8 and 10. Add words (keywords) like laptop, buy, cheap to INCLUDED option. Then you must select the ANY WORD option.
