1. Bluehost WordPress Hosting

Best “All-Round” Hosting Provider

bluehost WordPress hosting

Pros

  • Well known brand
  • Easy to use
  • Reliable performance
  • Quick and helpful assistance

Cons

  • Higher renewal prices
  • Daily backups cost more

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

After analyzing over 40 web servers, we found that the benchmark for good uptime should be 99.93%. So ideally we wouldn’t want to see anything lower.

Fortunately, Bluehost passed our test with ease, keeping our test site up and running with an uptime rate of 99.95% for the past 6 months (Nov 2020 to May 2021). In fact, that translates to just 42 seconds of downtime per day, which hardly affects the experience of your visitors while browsing your site.

Bluehost WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

And when it comes to page speed, our test site with Bluehost showed an average load speed of 726 ms over the last half year. While this isn’t vying for top spots, it’s not bad either. All in all, you can rely on Bluehost’s strong performance, whether you have a high-traffic blogging site or an ecommerce store.

Security Options

With the cheapest hosting plan, Bluehost offers a free SSL certificate and a free CDN (Cloudflare). High-level plans include the Spam Experts add-on, domain privacy protection, and server backups.

Codeguard is another form of protection offered by Bluehost. This add-on service gives you daily backups so you can revert to a previous version of your site in the event of an attack.

The last security tool worth mentioning is Google’s Postini. Provides spam protection for your email, preventing anything suspicious from entering your inbox in the first place.

Support Quality

Bluehost provides 24/7 customer support via live chat, phone, and email ticket system. On top of that, they have an extensive knowledge base with answers to frequently asked questions and other useful information.

We went ahead and tested their live chat option, and it was a pleasant experience.
We got our questions answered quickly and the rep was knowledgeable.

A2 WordPress hosting

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

A2 Hosting has really earned the second position in our list of the best WordPress hosting services thanks to its excellent performance.

With a solid 99.97% uptime, which translates to around 25 seconds of downtime per day, your site will definitely be available to your visitors. And with the promised 99.9% uptime guarantee, you’re likely to get a consistent level of performance with A2 Hosting.

A2 Hosting WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

Included with all their plans, A2 Hosting offers several security features to avoid potential threats and deal with imminent threats.

You can avoid any mishaps with free SSL certificates, SSH access, two-factor authentication, spam filtering, proactive HackScan protection, and Patchman’s enhanced security tool that detects and alerts you to outdated software.

Still, if something happens to your site, you will benefit from A2’s DDoS protection, dual firewalls, brute force defense, and virus scanning features.

Support Quality

You can contact A2 Hosting’s support team through various means: their Guru Crew support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year via live chat, electronic ticketing system, mail and telephone. We test your live chat.

Before using live chat and ticket support options, we had to fill out a short form with name, email address, and a few other things, including an explanation of the problem. It was a bit unexpected. But once the live chat put us in touch with a support agent, we received our responses mostly within 1 minute of the request. The agent was friendly and knew exactly which resource or guide would solve the problem.

Kinsta WordPress hosting

Pros

  • Adapted to WordPress
  • Lots of data centers
  • Good support
  • Great security

Cons

  • Expensive

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

Kinsta is a managed WordPress host known for its high performance. And our test site proved it again.

Over the past 6 months, our site has shown an uptime of 99.99%, which translates to less than 6 seconds of downtime per day. This is a result that all web servers should aspire to deliver, there are a few hosts on this list that have come close. But we’ll get to that soon.

Kinsta WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

When it comes to page speed, Kinsta isn’t lagging behind either. The average page load time on our 6-month test site is 610 ms, which is what we consider to be the best side of the average.

Security options

There are many useful security features that are already included in Kinsta’s cheapest starter plan ($ 30 / month). These include automatic daily backups, as well as manual backup points with a retention period of 14 days for the cheapest hosting plans. You’ll also get a free SSL certificate (or you can import your own), hardware firewalls, secure SSH and SFTP access, and continuous uptime monitoring.

In case someone hacks your site, Kinsta guarantees that it will fix your site and remove any malware for free. If you are migrating an already infected site, you can ask them to clean it up for a one-time fee of $ 100.

On top of all that, you’ll get DDoS protection, two-factor authentication, and all the security benefits of the Google Cloud platform that Kinsta uses.

Support Quality

When it comes to customer support, Kinsta differs a bit from most web servers:

Instead of phone and email support, they only have live chat support.

You can only use the chat through the MyKinsta dashboard and on the other side of the chat they have WordPress engineers who can solve your problems quickly. Before committing and registering, you can contact them through a form on the Contact page.

In addition to live chat support, Kinsta also has an extensive knowledge base that offers detailed guides on WordPress and other topics.

Prices and packages

Kinsta offers many managed WordPress plans, all of which include a number of free premium migrations, free unlimited base migrations, automatic and manual backups, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. All plans come with 2 months free if you get a yearly subscription.

The cheapest plan offered is the Starter plan at $ 30 / month. Below are its features along with the cheapest hosting options for the other types of plans they have:

4. SiteGround WordPress Hosting

Good All-Round Provider

SiteGround WordPress hosting

Pros

  • Excellent availability
  • Fast customer support
  • Good features

Cons

  • No free domain
  • Higher renewal prices

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

SiteGround has one of the best availabilities of any hosting platform we monitor (40+).

Our test site showed 99.98% uptime for the last 6 months. This averages just 18 seconds of downtime per day, which probably won’t have a negative effect on your users’ browsing experience.

SiteGround WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

Additionally, SiteGround shows an average page load time of 608 ms. Based on our extensive research on different hosting solutions, this is a satisfactory result.

Security options

SiteGround offers decent comprehensive security features, as well as something they call advanced WordPress security, which detects any general or plug-in vulnerabilities so they can quickly apply fixes.

Among the more technical security features, they have hardware redundancy, SSH and SFTP access, and their own server monitoring system that checks the status of your site every 0.5 seconds. SiteGround also has hacking prevention systems, however, unlike other hosting platforms, they do not offer free hacking fixes. However, they will provide you with a list of infected files and step-by-step instructions so that you can resolve the problem.

Support Quality

When it comes to customer support, SiteGround is doing very well. They offer 24/7 support via live chat, phone, and email tickets.

We tested their live chat and were very happy with the results. Your support agent logged into the chat almost immediately and answered all of our questions promptly. On top of that, the agent was friendly and very knowledgeable, and the chat didn’t appear to have been copied and pasted at all (although some responses might have been).

In addition to 24/7 customer support, SiteGround has a decent knowledge base, a collection of helpful tutorials for beginners, and even a podcast intended to explain technology concepts in plain language.

Prices and packages

All SiteGround pricing plans include unlimited databases, subdomains, and parked domains, as well as a 30-day money-back guarantee and a free CDN from Cloudflare.

Plan Price Included

5. Hostinger WordPress Hosting

Best “Cheap” Hosting Provider

Hostinger WordPress hosting

Pros

  • Low price
  • Easy to use control panel (hPanel)
  • Good support
  • Good features

Cons

  • Daily backups are not available with the two cheapest plans
  • Free CDN not available with two cheaper plans
  • Sometimes unreliable performance

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

Over the past 6 months, Hostinger has posted an average uptime of just 99.86%, despite its 99.9% uptime guarantee. This translates to 2 minutes and 4 seconds of inactivity per day. Compared to other hosting services we tested, this is not a good result and could have significantly affected the user experience.

Hostinger WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

However, where Hostinger lacks uptime, it makes up for page speed with an average of 360ms over 6 months. This is the second best page load time on our list, which shows that they are doing something right.

Security options

When it comes to security, Hostinger only offers the most basic features with their cheapest hosting plans. Along with the entry-level Single WordPress and WordPress Starter plans, it offers a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate, FTPS access, and week-long backups.

In general, Hostinger doesn’t seem to place much emphasis on the security features of their site, unlike other web hosting services. So if you want more security features then you have to use plugins to protect your site or get a more expensive plan.

Support Quality

Hostinger offers 24/7/365 customer support via email ticketing and live chat. However, live chat is only available to registered users. There is no phone, but Hostinger has branches all over the world, so you will likely get help in your preferred language.

First, we tested Hostinger’s ticket system by filling out the contact form on their site. In about 10 minutes, they posted a helpful response, but responses are later and will take over 20 minutes.

Second, we tested the live chat. The estimated response time to become the bubble was 20 minutes cat. Unfortunately, waiting times where possible can be inconvenient, especially if there is an urgent problem. It took a support agent 32 minutes to connect with us and we got more responses in about 3 minutes.

Finally, in addition to live support, Hostinger maintains a large knowledge base, tutorial database, and blog where you can search for answers on your own.

6. InMotion WordPress Hosting

Good All-Round Provider

InMotion WordPress hosting

Pros

  • Good value for money
  • Unlimited email accounts
  • 90 day money back guarantee

Cons

  • No free backups with the cheapest plan
  • The most expensive entry plan

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

As with other web hosting companies, we’ve been monitoring the performance of InMotion’s WordPress shared hosting plan for some time. Our data for the last 6 months shows an uptime rate of 99.94%, which equates to 16 seconds of daily downtime.

It’s not by far the best uptime we’ve seen, but it’s still above our recommended benchmark of 99.93%.

InMotion WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

However, when it comes to page speed, InMotion shows excellent results with a 6-month average page load time of 291ms. It can be thought of as fast page speed which is good for SEO and user experience.

Security options

From a security perspective, InMotion performs well. All of their plans include a free SSL certificate, SSH access, a web application firewall, and a security suite with protection against malware, hackers, and DDoS attacks. Automatic backups are a part of all plans except the cheapest WP-1000S plan.

On top of all this, you also get SPAM Safe ™ spam protection for emails, optional automatic WordPress updates, and a testing environment to safely test all your changes.

Support Quality

InMotion offers 24/7/365 support for all questions related to sales, support, accounts and invoicing. You can contact them through live chat, phone, email, or even Skype.

We tested the InMotion live chat. There was an initial wait of a few minutes before a support agent needed to be connected, but we still got our issues resolved quickly, even though they had to investigate the issue. for a few minutes the rest.

In addition to 24/7 support, InMotion has a help desk with over 5,000 articles and guides, with a separate department for all WordPress related content, including guides from use.

7. DreamHost WordPress Hosting

Best Billing Practices

DreamHost WordPress hosting

Pros

  • Unlimited SSD storage
  • Best pricing practices (no top renewals)
  • Exceptional 100% Uptime Guarantee
  • Automatic backups

Cons

  • Few security and support features are included
  • Low performance

Performance (Uptime and Page Speed)

DreamHost offers a fairly rare 100% uptime guarantee. If one of your systems fails, you will be reimbursed, which is why you managed to register. But unfortunately, despite the warranty, our 6-month measured average uptime was only 99.78%. This means having 3 minutes and 13 seconds of downtime per day, which can already affect your business. The effect is not huge, but there is still a long way to go to reach the promised 100%.

DreamHost WordPress Hosting 6-Month Performance Statistics

Now when it comes to page speed, DreamHost doesn’t show the best results either with a response time of 1430ms.

Security options

DreamHost offers a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate with all of their plans. On top of that, they have free access to domain privacy, SFTP, and SSH, as well as automated daily backups and basic and security WordPress updates.

Along with the three most expensive Dreampress plans, you’ll also get the Jetpack add-on that offers protection against brute force attacks. The Dreampress Plus and Pro plans include the Jetpack Professional version with many additional security features.

In general, when it comes to security, DreamHost is a bit similar to Hostinger, as neither of them seems to put much emphasis on security in addition to the must-have basic features.

Support Quality

DreamHost has in-house WordPress experts to offer email tickets and live chat support. The most expensive plan also comes with priority support.

A live chat support option is available to all registered users through the Control Panel every day at set times (5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. PT). At any other time, you can chat with the help bot 24/7, which directs the most complex requests to customer service via an electronic ticket.

To test their level of service, we spoke to their chatbot, resulting in the creation of an e-ticket when we contacted DreamHost outside of their live chat hours. We had to respond to an automatically sent email with our question and received a detailed response within 3 hours.

Prices and packages

All plans include pre-installed WordPress with automatic security and basic updates, a free domain, free automated migrations, monthly visits and unlimited bandwidth, as well as automated daily backups. Prices apply with prepaid plans. The most expensive Dreampress plans are the managed WordPress hosting plans.
